Youth Ministry Partners' Retreat cum BB/GB Consultation 2013
Date: 16 – 18 August 2013
Venue: Methodist Training Center, Port Dickson
Closing Date: 31 July 2013
There is a special emphasis world-wide to reach the young of today's world. While God is calling young people to the larger work of His kingdom, there is also the crisis of a missing generation. How do we handle this trauma that the church is facing today? How do we in TRAC move away from the phenomena of the missing generation to that of a missional generation? Basic to moving from what may be missing to something as powerful as missional, we need to see youth ministry as ONE youth ministry in the local church. How can the traditional youth ministry, the BB, and the GB be integrated into ONE youth ministry, not seeing each as competing with the other, but integrated into one wholistic segment where the church can effectively explore how to raise a missional generation for their families, the church, their community, and the world. We will be exploring at least 3 existing models of integration and using that as a springboard for further exploration.
(Facilitator: Dr. Herbert Tan)
Synopsis of plenary session:
Those who labour in the ministry field of young people (pastors, youth counselors, youth workers, parents, BB/GB officers) are regularly in need of a refreshing touch from the Lord in the labour intensive field of youth ministry. Come and be refreshed by the presence of the Lord and His Word.
"... respect those (youth ministry partners) who work hard among you ... Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. ..." (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13)
